She stands, still and withdrawn
She breathes, she lives
But nothing but her eyes move
Quiet and careful, cautious
Left to right, top to bottom
Her eyes are quick to follow
Her mind taking, processing, remembering
The gears of her mind whirring, turning
He passes and she’s quick to assess
Unforeseen, unexpected, he stops
Tender eyes gazing at her, he offers a kind smile
Now still eyes solely on him, the gears stop
Staring, her right fingers twitch
She can almost feel soft cotton and heat
Breaking routine, her hand moves slightly upwards
He surges forward, he resumes his walk
She drops her arms, her fingers cold
Like nothing happened, interruption forgotten
Her eyes resume its swift perusal
Passing wind, her mind softly whispers -

Convenient. Compact. Common.
Important. Personal. Worn.
My thoughts unravelled
My feelings for anyone to see -
I am rowing in calm waters
Surrounded and shrouded in thick fog
My vision unseeing and my direction aimless
Instinctively and mechanically, I row
There is no shining rays of the sun
No fat soaking tears of rain pelting my skin
My hair frozen-still from the absent wind
Colourless, lost, and suspendedMy gaze is fixed, glassy eyes unblinking
My arms always moving but never tired
I row not because I want to
But because it is the only thing left to do -
She breathes in all that you offer
But she always spits you out -
She feared happiness
Happiness always made her look twice behind her back
Always made her question people’s smiles
Dread suffocating and drowning her in her sleepBut it is not like she reveled in pain, she was no masochist
She found no pleasure in seeing her dreams crash
Felt no adrenaline rush when her life dove for the worst
But when her head hit the pillow, she slept peacefullyHappiness is dangerous,
It turns you blind to the possibilities
Makes you vulnerable, your armor soft
It strips away all the fight you garnered and builtHappiness can only go down
Clip your wings and stare while you fall
With pain and grief, it can only get better
You fight and you stumble, but you’ll never caught off guard
Pure unadulterated happiness was made for children
For they knew no fear -
The world’s worst war criminal
Joseph Kony is the worst living criminal. He abducts children and hands them guns to kill other people, even their parents. He uses the girls as sex slaves. The children he abducted are called the Lord’s Resistance Army, also known as, The LRA. He has abducted over 30,000 children and uses them as kid soldiers in Central Africa. He remains at large because he is practically invisible to the whole world. That’s why we’re making him famous. Let us make him famous to stop his crimes.

Some dreams you need to let go
Or else you’ll never stop running -
Temporary salvation followed by eternal suffering
Or a lifetime of apathy but saved from the inevitable painTo be happy but always worry
Or to never worry but remain emptyTo take the risk and grasp the passing chance
Or stay safe and let the possibilities fly by
To feel love then loss
Or to not feel at all
There is always a price
But which are the ones that’s worth it -
His gaze never strays
His resolution absolute
His faith unshakeable
Untiringly, he waits in the station
Everyday, he patiently waits
And for every nearing bus
His eyes dance in anticipation
Eyes that dart back and forth, searching
But never has he bothered to move
Countless of people have passed him
Countless souls telling him to board
But he remains, continues to wait
Waiting for the small fragile-looking woman
Whose twinkling eyes shine warmth and affection
Whose breathtaking smile is always sincere and pure
So he stands unmoving, waiting for her
Hoping to hear her call and see her welcoming eyes
So he can take her in his arms and finally be home
